Today, we carry one name — AfroLatins in Favour of the World — bringing The Base and Bambelela together as one registered non-profit organisation rooted in Bethlehem, Free State, South Africa.

AfroLatins in Favour of the World is a Christian missions organisation based in Bethlehem, Free State, South Africa. Our heart is to know God and make Him known — through discipleship, missions, practical mercy and the development of people and communities.
Our Story
Our Story
AfroLatins was founded by Miguel and Marlien Godoy.
Miguel is Argentinian and Marlien is South African. They met in 1993 while training as missionaries with YWAM in Ituzaingó, Argentina. In 1995, they both went to serve as missionaries in Equatorial Guinea, where they began a relationship and were married in 1996.
They served in Equatorial Guinea for five years, where they saw the great need for discipleship and for people to be equipped to know God and make Him known.
In the year 2000, Miguel and Marlien came to South Africa with a dream: to build a bridge between South America and Africa — a place where missionaries could be trained, equipped and sent to the nations.
The journey was not always easy. The first years were difficult, but God remained faithful. Over time, they began to see growth, miracles and lives transformed.
Throughout the years, God has faithfully provided for the ministry, the people and the work He has called them to do.

Today, AfroLatins continues through two expressions of one ministry.

THE BASE
The Base is a place where people are discipled, equipped and sent. It is home to missionary families and a place where teams are welcomed, people are trained and leaders are developed.
BAMBELELA
BAMBELELA
Bambelela is our mercy ministry, serving people in need through food, discipleship, practical help, skills development, children's ministry, women's ministry, Freedom Ministry and community outreach.
The Base sends. Bambelela stays.
Together, they are two hands working towards one purpose: knowing God and making Him known.

The name AfroLatins reflects the heart of our calling: Africans and South Americans joining together to disciple the nations.
Our diversity has always been part of our story. Over the years, people and teams from many different nations have come alongside us to serve, learn and make an impact.
We believe the nations can work together to reach the nations.
